Peru’s prized destination, Machu Picchu, has been nominated for an award by a leading travel magazine. Reflecting the world’s enduring fascination with this iconic archaeological site, National Geographic included Machu Picchu among the finalists for the National Geographic Traveler Reader Awards.
National Geographic Traveler magazine recognized Machu Picchu as a destination worthy of special distinction in the “Overseas Attraction” category of its annual awards ceremony. Competing alongside Machu Picchu in this category are other global landmarks such as the Grand Canyon National Park in the United States and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
