Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Lima

Arrive in Peru’s sprawling capital city and receive a welcome at Lima airport, a Peru Machu Picchu tours representative will meet you there and accompany you by private vehicle to your hotel, showing you the city as you go.

* Lima is home to the Government palace and World-renowned & award-winning restaurants.

Day 2: Lima City Tour (UNESCO World Heritage)

Enjoy the morning at your own leisure.

Discover Lima’s fascinating history on a guided city tour. Your adventure begins with sightseeing around the historical city center (UNESCO World Heritage), colonial churches, palaces and promenades. The day ends with a visit to Larco Herrera Museum, one of South America’s best museums.

* Visit the vibrant suburb of Miraflores or the bohemian district of Barranco, and sample some local culinary delights or a glass of Peru’s national drink ‘Pisco sour’ at one of the many cafes, bars and restaurants in the neighborhood.

Day 3: Flight to Cusco & Transfer to The Sacred Valley

Transfer to Lima airport for your flight to Cusco city (an-hour approx).

Upon your arrival, our local staff will welcome you and transfer you on a private transport to your selected hotel located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Along the route, stop at the picturesque town of Pisaq, including the Inca archaeological site, appreciate the fine masonry, watchtowers, residential quarters, Peru’s largest Inca cemetery and the vibrant Artisan market, a great opportunity to interact with the locals, some dressed in their traditional colorful costumes.

Appreciate the Urubamba River known as “Wilcamayu” by the Incas and the fertile Sacred Valley surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks which has long been the main source of food for the high Andes.

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch.

Day 4: Exploring The Sacred Valley & Ollantaytambo Inca Fortress

Full day tour. Visit Ollantaytambo, a town built around an ancient Inca fortress, admire the Inca architecture, town planning, temples,etc. Visit Maras, an ancient Pre-Inca site of evaporation ponds used to mine pink salt. Visit and take part of the ceramic process at the workshop in Chichubamba village. Head down to the hotel to rest up for the following day (Inca trail hike).

Day 5: Short Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu

Morning transfer to Ollantaytambo train station to board the tourist train to Km 104 — the starting point of the 2-day Inca trail to Machu Picchu. During the 1.5 hour journey, a light snack is provided. Once off the train, we’ll hike up to the Inca ruins of Wiñaywayna, then continue on to join the last section of the classic 4-day Inca trail. This path winds its way to the Inti Punku (Sun Gate), from where you will have the first glimpse of Machu Picchu before heading down to explore.

Meals: Breakfast and Box Lunch.

Day 6: Visiting Machu Picchu & Return to Cusco City

After breakfast, you will be transfered back to the Machu Picchu archaeological site by shuttle bus.

Tour at Machu Picchu Sanctuary (2 hours approx). Explore the enigmatic complex of Machu Picchu accompanied by your tour guide, who leads the way through the site, providing varied information on key areas of interest. For adventure-seekers, we suggest hiking up Huayna Picchu Mountain (reservation required – check availability) from where you can appreciate the immensity of Machu Picchu. It’s an exciting adventure for the travelers who want to see, from the top, the nature and the carved stone emerging from the ground.

After lunch, board the train back either to Ollantaytambo or Poroy town and continue by bus to your hotel .

Day 7: Cusco City Tour (UNESCO World Heritage city)

Enjoy a morning City Tour to explore Cusco city, which takes you to the Qoricancha or Sun Temple, now referred to as Santo Domingo Church. Then, visit the impressive archaeological sites around the city: Saqsayhuaman, an Inca complex with megalithic constructions; Q’enqo, an ancient Inca ceremonial site; San Pedro Market, a local farmers market where you can see fresh local produce and delicacies; and finally San Blas, the artisans’ neighborhood of narrow and high cobblestone streets. You’ll discover historic plazas, quaint local coffee shops and unique workshops. You can also visit the Pre-Columbian museum, which houses magnificent ancient artifacts and colonial art.

Afternoon Options: Learn how to cook the most popular Peruvian dishes at a cooking Class in one of the best restaurants in town, visit the Inca museum or a silver workshop.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner.

Day 8: Cusco – Outbound

Transfer to Cusco airport for your flight to Lima.

Assistance provided if needed.
